PREREQUISITES & PROSPECTS

Educational Institutions & Organizations

N

General / Vocational Secondary Education

  • A whole bunch of advantages for both learners and teachers in basically all educational settings dealing with languages and cultures in one way or the other. Just a compact selection in a nutshell:
  • Learners:
    • Acquaintance with and regular use of so far unique online-tools for individual language (learning) profiling, focusing on analysis of language perception and use both in- and outside of institutional (sc. formal) learning environments, learning experiences, strategies and styles, self-assessment and individual goal-setting for language learning covering the entire language repertoire >> evidently contributing significantly to strengthening language (learning) awareness and more language aware learning in general
    • Super-immersion into various reality-like contexts and situations of everyday language use through film-based computer simulations, covering – obviously – both written and oral language use in formal and informal language domains / communication situations and providing unique possibilities for putting one’s own language proficiency to the test – almost like in real life 🙂
    • Self-assessment of the simulation performance described above – via Language Performance Laboratory (LPL): online, anywhere and anytime.
    • Transparent analysis of one’s own language proficiency and learning progression in (online-) co-operation with the teacher / trainer – underlining the importance of continuous analysis & assessment FOR learning.
  • Teachers
    • A novel multidimensional co-operation setting with e.g. diverse creative and cultural sectors and the language education research in support of everyday practice of institutional language education – with context-specific materials production and accompanying research, as well as further collaboration prospects e.g. with film professionals and performing artists also on an international level
    • Close and up-to-date insights into language use, learning strategies & styles as well as self-assessment and goalsettings of individual learners – online, anywhere and anytime.
    • Unique views on learner’s oral and written language performance in reality-like communication situations accurately reflecting the learning goals of the various target groups – with the help of film-based computer simulations provided by LPL
    • Analysis and assessment of learners’ simulation performance in a direct and transparent dialogue with them – utilizing the assessment tools provided in the LPL.
