Research Partners

Research is essential for LINGONAIZER – in many ways and on several levels: The application will be, obviously, built upon the latest research evidence both in the field of language education research and information technologies. What is more, the accompanying research measures along our project activities, starting from the application design and going all the way to the implementation and evaluation phases, will be simply invaluable for the envisaged support of policy iniatives and other more systemic, long-term aims at the heart of the project’s ambitious goalsetting. Have a look below for a quick overview of an exemplary profile, as well as the main tasks and activities initially foreseen for our research partners “in spe”.

Research Partner Profile

* Higher education institution (HEI) / other research institute with expertise especially in the field(s) of applied linguistics / language education / information technology / (generative) Artificial Intelligence

* Interest in documentation and analysis of pupils’ language (learning) awareness and (especially academic) language sensitivity with the help of novel technology solutions,

AND/OR

* Interest in carrying out accompanying, technology-focused research on the use and the impact of the LINGONAIZER application during the project

* Ideally knowledge of (national/regional/local) curriculum design for general (secondary) education and its implementation in the school practice

* Interested in cooperating with and supporting the corresponding educational  authorities / instances of policy-making and implementation at local/regional/national level (in one’s own area(s) of expertise)

SETTING UP your LINGONAIZER-team

* 1-3 colleagues representing research in the field of / closely related to

a) institutional language acquisition / education

and/or

b) information technology

with focus on any context-relevant topic(s) from language (learning) awareness to acquisition of (especially academic, subject-specific) language skills, or, alternatively, from application design to user interaction, etc.

* Head of the organisation / unit  as legal representative in the project and as (one of) the spokesperson(s) towards educational authorities / corresponding policy instances and other public relations & outreach

MAIN TASKS & ACTIVITIES

PROJECT PHASE I:

* Acquaintance with the currently available tools of digital language (learning) profiling, provided through the Language Performance Laboratory (LPL)

* Participation in the transnational co-creation work of LINGONAIZER with particular contributions to state of the art of language education research / context-relevant information technology research and development in one’s own country / region of residence

PROJECT PHASE II:

* Research activities accompanying and supporting the implementation and evaluation of the LINGONAIZER-prototypes at schools (primarily in one’s own country / region)

PROJECT PHASE III:

* Analysis and presentation of the main findings linked to one’s own research topic(s)

* Preparation of evidence-based recommendations for policy iniatives linked to the respective research topic(s)

…AND THROUGHOUT THE JOURNEY:

* Participation in project meetings and events (both online and in presence)

* Regular dialogue with both the school partners and the policy representatives (educational authorities, curriculum design, etc.) in one’s own context

* General research partner-specific reporting tasks as agreed with the coordinating body
